A warm welcome to you all at the start of our new season and my first as your new chairman.

Let me start by thanking Rob McWhirter, who as previous chairman oversaw the club through a period of unprecedented success and growth, both on and off the playing field. I am sure that we will continue to see Rob around the club, and hopefully he will be able to enjoy coming down socially and as a parent.

So now to this season and your new committee has a number of objectives.

First to maintain Market Bosworth’s reputation for being a friendly and welcoming club for all its players, members supporters and parents and of course to the many opposition teams who will visit Cadeby  Lane.

Secondly to foster and improve upon the one club ethos, that has a strong senior section and a thriving, growing and supportive mini and junior presence.

Thirdly to continue to improve the playing facilities, we are in the process of seeking funding for new floodlights having already gained planning permission, we hope to here positive news on this soon.

And finally, in these challenging economic times, we need to grow our income, through higher bar takings, increased subscription rates and sponsorship donations. Only by doing this can we continue to invest in better facilities, support for our coaches and improved player development.

To help achieve these goals we need the enthusiasm of the whole of the club, with much higher levels of integration between the senior and juniors parts of the club and more importantly all our stakeholders being positively engaged in the support and running of the club.

This is a club for all its members and to continue to prosper it needs many of you to get involved and that does not mean just in the rugby side. The club is always in need of support in terms of trades and skills, or money and equipment or just knowledge and know how. So please don’t sit on the sidelines grumbling about the state of the pitches, or the dirty corridor, offer to get involved and make the club a better place for all of us.

I really would like any member who thinks they have something to offer to contact myself or any other member of the committee.

I look forward to seeing many of you during the coming months and here’s to a successful season across the board.
