Bosworth Colts continued their improving form by beating Hinckley away.
For the first time this season Bosworth Colts hit the floor running.
The first 10-15 minutes saw a fine exhibition of attacking play with Bosworth linking sweeping moves with devasting rucking and mauling.
From one of these moves Mayne hit the line well from 15 meters out and despite being smother tackled on the line managed to offload to Woods who crashed over to make it 5-0.
Further pressure saw Hinckley give away a penalty near the posts which Bates put over to increase the lead to 8-0.
At this point Hinckley seemed to catch their breath and began to creep into the game albeit without threatening the Bosworth line.
Just into the second quarter No. 8 Will James went over for Bosworth to make it 13-0.
HALF TIME : Hinckley 0 ; Bosworth 13
The second half was a little more difficult for Bosworth as continuity was hampered for a while as the coaches introduced replacements with one eye on selection for next weeks National Cup game.
Hinckley enjoyed the lions share of possession, whilst Bosworth looked dangerous on the counter.
With Bosworth lock Gavin Smith having been sin binned Hinckley finally scored a deserved try to make the score 13-5.
The rest of the game turned into a dogged fight for possession and territory, which Bosworth finally won.
FULL TIME : Hinckley 5 ; Bosworth 15
Attention now turns to next weekends National Cup game at home against Newark.
After another good performance the coaching staff certainly have a tough selection problem to make. |
